It may be that no craft were needed. The human race has quite possibly lost more skills than it currently has. A recent discovery in East Timor points to the possibility that current swimming skills may be a long way behind what once existed. As for flying... why not?

Prehistoric humans living more than 40,000 years ago had mastered the skills needed to catch fast-moving, deep-ocean fish, a new archaeological find has revealed.

In a small cave at the eastern end of East Timor, archaeologist Associate Professor Sue O'Connor from the Australian National University has unearthed the bones of more than 2,800 fish, some of which were caught as far back as 42,000 years ago.

If you thought wikileaks were bad, you should see how much wikipedia are telling people...

Though a member of a world-famous super-team, Storm still lived primarily in Glenville and attended Glenville High School, as depicted in his concurrent solo series in the anthology comic book Strange Tales, starting with issue #101. That series depicts him as maintaining a secret identity, although retroactive continuity later revealed[when?] that his fellow townsfolk were well aware of his being a member of the Fantastic Four and simply humored him.

They have little choice. If I fly a little too close to their rooftops, they can't stand the heat. Lower, and they can't stand the fire.

You know, those lines were drawn in the days when the people belonged to the land, not the land to the people. That connection, and more recent disconnection, might have much to do with what was done then, and thought to be impossible now.

yeah that changes the whole dynamic when you take the ownership from the person, and returns it to the land; makes them a subject instead of a proprietor.
